I&#39;m interested in using TurnKey Linux to set up a server for my small business. But since I&#39;m new to server administration, I might need some guidance on how to start.</p>

I specifically want to know:</p>

How can I make sure that my server and data are secure?</li>

Hi Viv, weclome to TurnKey Linux.

The way that TurnKey works is that we have a library of ~100 appliances. Check them out on the >a href="/">front page (scroll down and you should be able to browse or search them all - alternatively, you can scroll through them all page-by-page.

The TurnKey appliances are generally targeted towards a single piece of software, or a specific function. So it's possible that you may want to run more than one. As such, most people use TurnKey in a VM, rather than installed to bare metal. It is completely possible to install to bare metal if you wish, but it's generally quicker and easier to install a hypervisor, such as ProxmoxVE to bare metal, then install TurnKey VMs (or additionally containers on Proxmox) on top.

So my counter question is what do you want to do with your server? Personally, I recommend getting clear about what you actually need or want to do with your server, then find the appliance that best fulfills your needs. Note that there are gaps in the TurnKey library, so you may not find everything you want/need here, but hopefully it will be a solid start. If you find some specific software that we don't already package as a server, no promises, but please feel free to ask. If it's open source and can be redistributed, then we're potentially open to packaging it as an appliance.
