I'll take another look at Google Alerts. If I react to incoming alerts impulsively it will probably be too distracting. Instead I think I'll try setting up a mail filter that files the alerts away and then batch going over them every once in a while. Batching is great. I picked that up when I read High Output Management by Andrew Grove (Intel President)
