I just switched over to my ubuntu partition. Everything works fine. I guess its a VirtualBox Windows edition bug.

The noise in error.log about HALF_DAYS_IN_DAY and Gem.source_index is the same.

Unfortunately, my job forces me to live in Windows. Stepping through the instructure github repo install instructions.
