Just like Windows has a default admin user account called 'Administrator', Linux has a default admin user account called 'root'. That works for local terminal/SSH/SFTP/Webmin and MySQL (and possibly other stuff on other appliances). For Magento I think the default user account is 'admin' although if that doesn't work then check the Magento docs (TKL uses upstream software default username). For other software included with TKL try 'root' or 'admin' and/or check upstream documentation.
