I'm trying to use the Odoo ISO to install the app from TKL. I am unable to get it to boot on VMware.
I was hoping to find OVF files, but could not find them, either.
I tried installing the installation packages from the Ubuntu repositories, but the instructions suggest about a day of work just to figure that out.
I'm looking for any way I can get this started.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Can you provide some more info?
I assume that you are trying to launch the current (v18.x) Odoo appliance?
At least in theory, installing the ISO should "just work" everywhere (with the exception of support for UEFI BIOS - on our todo list). Without more info re the problem on your end, that's actually the only thing that springs to mind. Perhaps double check if VMware defaults to providing a (virtual) UEFI BIOS. If so, see if you can select a legacy BIOS and try again.
Any further info you can provide will assist me to provide some other suggestions that might help. Can you please share:
FYI re the OVF files, there are a number of reasons that we haven't been producing them in more recent times.
Part of the issue we had was that we don't run VMware anywhere internally so internal testing was limited to the latest free Desktop VMware software (VMware Player IIRC). And despite using the office VMware OVFtool to build them, just because it worked there that didn't seem to translate to all VMware users and/or other VMware products and/or all the different versions in use. Even if/when we had users test them, we still had other users having issues.
We have limited resources and OVF support was just chewing up too many cycles. We haven't ruled out producing them again in future, but we have a fair bit of technical debt (including improving the user experience here on our forums) that we need to address before we can revisit that.
